12 June #wa2pa

Yep. It's got a hashtag now. After we cleared housing, cleared Fort Lewis (JBLM), and collected Kenai from the Bullimore's, we hit the road for Crescent City, CA. LeighAnne had some time behind the wheel in Oregon, driving up and down a few mountains in an SUV with a topper while competing with the semi trucks. Girl got skillz. We rolled into Crescent City, CA around 9ish at night. Our reservations were for a cabin at a KOA. Not having to pitch a tent in the dark and 2 rooms...one with a double bed, the other with 4 bunks was perfect. Kenai had some freedom and we were all happy to fall into our sleeping bags and restore ourselves. It was a good nights rest. Before we packed out the next morning, we headed into town for a great breakfast at Vita Cucina. Breakfast sandwiches were too much to resist...we may go down in their books as the family that ordered everything. After loading up we drove up and down and up and down and left and right and right and left and around until we were firmly settled into all things redwoods. And then LeighAnne drove through a redwood.... America is unbelievable. Then we got back on the road and drove up and down and around and around and around. We were so busy driving we failed to get lunch. By the time we hit Westport, CA, we were out of gas, out of love, out of energy and out of connectivity. None the less, we set up camp right next to the Pacific Ocean (or at least close enough for this moma to still be able to have a potty nearby. A personal favorite...as I'm in my fullest pity party moment, I'm heading into town with the boy to pick up hamburger buns and chips. I'm pissy as all get out and we pull up to the local "grocery" only to find the local post office.

WA2PA Pre-move

Hmmm. Here we are again. One would think 3rd time's a charm...but... in someways we have figured out a few things, yet some mistakes are just meant to be made again and again. Good and bad, the ol' blogger seems a good thing to pull back out as we travel new roads for this cross country event. So, a few move prep events need noted: A stinky funeral for the great couch purchased New Year's Day, 2006. That sectional seemed to be made for our AK house and provided plenty of snuggle room for all 5 Davis' and Kenai. Lucky loved sitting on the back of that couch pretending she could care less about us.
Then a celebration for LeighAnne passing her driver's test. 3 drivers in the family now. (Stay tuned for more updates in Tinkerbell's driving adventures!)
Finally it's time to clear our quarters. SarahBeth, having had the previous 2 days of school off already, was allowed to sleep in while we put LA and Jamison to work. Then an impromptu "casing ceremony". Our time at Fort Lewis had many challenges but was very rewarding and special.
The traditional Moma Honda signage and pic was a must before we hit the road on the afternoon of 12 June, 2013.
Carlisle, Pennsylvania, here we come!

Good Thing...

Good thing I posted some new pics the other day.....good thing I have this extra spot to record my pictures and memories....

The other day, in spite of frequent picture back ups on my external hard drive, Tim's computer lost EVERYTHING and December/January (fortunately ONLY those months) were lost. :( What's frustrating is, I am a "backer upper" but the holidays divert anyone's attention... :( LESSON LEARNED.

BUT---no worries. There are more pictures to download and more fun to come.

Stay tuned!

December 2009

Ahh December.

Of course we must acknowledge you came in with snow just in time for Jamison's 6th birthday. We went forward with the Chuck E Cheese party plans and all went off perfectly. Especially with one of Grammy's famous birthday cakes....

You know I love to talk obnoxiously about my children's accomplishments...but, I got a chance to revisit some former loves recently...

Here's me an my friend Barb (right over my shoulder--short brown bob) singing our Christmas hearts out. We have known each other since Ft. Knox and our boys are "belly buddies"...we were pregnant at the same time while our husbands were deployed to Afghanistan. Jamison is a December baby, her's is a February baby. They have a LOT of fun together now that we get to hang out in Northern Virginia together--for a bit.

Now. Christmas...let's just let the pictures say it all....

(National Tree)

OH! The wonderful snow (have I mentioned how much we LOVE snow!?!?!?!)...the snow that gave the kids 3 extra days of Christmas.... It fell so beautifully and quickly. It was magical. Truly.

Then the constant reminder that babies don't remain that way forever....

But as long as we are all pretending...

Let's be super sweet for the parents'--hours before Santa arrives

But the best part of Christmas is family...

Thanks Grammy and Poppie for letting us hang out at the Rivah!

New Year?

OK. I've been miserable at keeping up with the blog. But with Facebook filling in all the gaps, it's been hard to make myself come over here and update.

But, a New Year's resolution is to see to this more. Soo....let's update a bit...

Let's start simple. I'll grab a few pics and update.

Uh. Well. Easy one. Here's Frick and Frack at the National Arboretum. I think I mentioned this before. They do a great Christmas/Holiday set up which includes......TRAINS(yes, still a very big part of our lives)

Oh, here's a pic of the rest of us after running a Thanksgiving Day Run. Tim ran further than us girls, but I swear at this moment I can't recall the difference. Rest assured, he worked off more turkey than us girls.

Here's a great one of me and my newest sis-in-law and my mom. TDay dinner is nearly on the table. Happiness all around!

Here's a pic that I'm SURE the whole family will ask me to remove--however, I love it. Shows everyone (to include a ms. retha!-stephanie's mom) playing Texas Hold 'Em

And then came December...

Boys will be boys

Some of you all may have seen these pictures already, but I couldn't resist posting them here.

The day after our March snow, Jamison decided to visit the little creek behind our house. If you look closely, you will see that while he initially tries to stay out of the near freezing water, the boy in him just has to get wet.

It's pictures like these that make me forever grateful for Tim getting my super cool, extra special lens for me last-last Christmas. It was a lot of money, but the pictures I've been able to get with it has made it twice as valuable.

In like a Lion...
